Comet C/2012 K5 (LINEAR)

This image shows the comet C/2012 K5 (LINEAR) on the New Year's Eve (December 31st 2012). It is a composite of 3 RGB sets of 1 min. exposition each for the stars, and one 2 min. LRGB set tracked on the comet (see the bottom image) using the comet tracking capability of my DDM 85 mount. The comet's nucleus is about only 3 arcmin. from the 5.9 mag. star SAO 41130. LRGB set of 2 min. exposition time in each channel. It was used the comet tracking capability of my DDM 85 mount. The stars were artificially suppressed in order to show better the comet. This images were acquired remotely from the remote controlled IRIDA Observatory . |
