M 42 (Great Orion Nebula) and NGC 1977 (Running Man Nebula)
The Great Orion Nebula (also known as Messier 42 or NGC 1976) is a diffuse nebula in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae and is visible to the naked eye. Located at a distance of about 1,350 light years,it is the closest region of massive star formation.
