VdB 38 and Sh2-263 (Raspberry Nebula)
This is a seldom imaged area in Orion. Some sources referrer VdB 38 as Sh-2 263, but in reality VdB 38 is the blue reflection nebula and SH-263 is a red emission nebula. This object (or object) are also designated as DG 53, Magakian 97 and Cederblad 44. Due to certain resemblance with a raspberry fruit, I would call it Raspberry Nebula, and I would like to dedicate it to my wife's sister Malina (which means raspberry in Bulgarian language), who passed away on February 19th 2013. This image was taken remotely from the remote controlled IRIDA Observatory . |
