M 31 (Andromeda Galaxy), M 32 and M 110
The Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224) is a spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Andromeda. It is the nearest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way. M 31 is the largest galaxy of the Local Group, which consists of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy, and about 30 other smaller galaxies. At an apparent magnitude of 3.4, the Andromeda Galaxy is the only object beyond the Milky Way visible to the naked eye. M 31 has two satellites - the dwarf elliptical galaxies M 32 (NGC 221, near to the center) and M 110 (NGC 205, below). Here are all my version of M 31. |
