The 12 Inch ASA  Astrograph on the ASA DDM85 mount. This highly corrected Newtonian telescope may be used for three different focal lengths, by using appropriately calculated correctors. The original focal length of the device is shortened by the 3" Wynne corrector, by a factor of 0.95, to f 3.6 . Given the matching corrector, the system can be shortened by a factor of 0.73 or extended by a factor of 1.8. Hence, by using different correctors, one can get three telescope focal lengths with perfect picture quality. Here shown on a giant field tripod

Here is my permanent setup - the mount and the telescope are on a 8 inch metal pier. Unfortunately the observatory is situated in a very light polluted place, which allows me to image only with narrowband filters. The whole cabling is passing through the pier.

Despite of its weight, the DDM 85 mount is still portable. One can split the mount into two parts. Each part has a weight of approximately 19 kg.        The loading capacity is 65 kg.     The tracking accuracy is excellent and therefore in most cases one can turn off guiding. In fact most of my deep sky images are unguided.

For widefield imaging I use a Canon 300 mm F/2.8 lenses. Here mounted on the DDM 85 mount. The mounting ring of the scope serves as counterweight.

Canon 70 - 200 mm F/2.8 zoom lenses

The use of Canon teleextenders EF 1.4x and 2x gives me a variety of focal lenghts - in case of 300mm lenses these are resp. 420, 600 and        (combining both) 840 mm.

My imaging camera is the SBIG (Santa Barbara Instruments Group) STL-11000M.  This camera uses a Kodak KAI-11000M chip with 11 million pixels arranged in a 4008 x 2672 array (roughly the dimensions of 35mm film format) of 9 micron pixels.  The chip is antiblooming which is a definite advantage. The STL camera has an internal five position filter wheel where I have mounted the LRGB filter set. For narrowband imaging I use BAADER narrowband filters - H alpha, S II and O III

The 14 Inch Meade LX200 GPS which was my imaging scope from 2004 till 2009

The Meade LXD 75 German equatorial mount, very portable, I use in combination with Canon digital cameras and different lenses

My first "serious" telescope - the 8 inch Celestron C8 was good companion since 1989

Coronado PST - the personal solar scope with H alpha solar filter

Canon 60 Da digital camera. The modified Infrared Cut Filter provides the Canon 60Da with greater infrared light sensitivity.

Canon 40 D digital camera with Live View

Canon 5D full format digital camera

Canon 300D - my first digital camera

Nikon F 601 - replacement for the broken Nikon F 801

Nikon F801 - my first automated SLR film camera

Zenit 12 XP - a SLR film camera

Zenit E - my first SLR film camera
